The supply of products that must be high quality, functional and economical has prompted LEM to develop both the design and manufacture of its own products and the implementation of any electronic or mechanical project proposed by the customer, even for small series..
Over the years, it has added the following types of work to its traditional field of activity (telecommunications):
Avionics, IT, Special Vehicle and Shelter Fittings, Metal Carpentry, Electronic Systems, Energy Storage Devices, Generators, Rugged PCs and Tablets, Telecommunications and Audio-Video System Integration.
The administrative/commercial side of the business is based at its headquarters in Rome, while the technical side (design and production) operates from the new, modernly equipped plant in Pomezia (RM, Italy), covering a usable area of over 2,500 square metres with yards, green areas and parking for a total of 6,500 square metres.
Foundation of L.E.M. Srl: from the outset, its activities have been focused on the telecommunications sector for military and professional use.
The company specialises in the overhaul and repair of RX and TX radio equipment, radio links, detection systems for ships and the construction of HF power amplifiers.
The company expanded its technical and production capabilities, obtaining, among other things, its first quality certification.
During this period, it also produced: RV2/400 radio stations and related spare parts, installations for military mobile vehicles, electromechanical systems for armoured vehicles, various types of antennas, power supply systems, small-capacity reclamation equipment, and shelters configured as TLC, Telex, Command and Control, and Data Archives.
The new Research and Development Department is established, bringing together a team of highly qualified Italian engineers specialising in the military sector. The company grows and takes on its current form, specialising in the following sectors, mainly aimed at the armed forces.:
L.E.M. takes a ‘quantum leap’ forward: it obtains NATO-AQAP110 certification and acquires the new Pomezia plant, where it transfers its production activities.
During this period, L.E.M. continued to design and build installations for military vehicles capable of operating in missions outside the primary area of importance and in projects aimed at installations on various types of shelters (UEO-2, ISO20' and ISO20' with variable geometry), including the recent Regiment Command Post, Brigade Operations Cell and Fusion Centre.
L.E.M. developed an avionics workshop for repairing VHF/UHF/HF onboard equipment, identification and navigation equipment, onboard weather radar, rugged onboard computers, and complete repair and overhaul of Hartzell propellers on aeroplanes and helicopters.
L.E.M. designs and builds medium and high-power energy stations in accordance with the most stringent MIL standards, which are approved and currently in use by the Italian Air Force (from 2.5 Kva to 450 Kva). It manufactures and equips various types of military shelters and vehicles, integrating communication and data processing systems to create complete, autonomous systems for the most important operational theatres.
The last decade has seen LEM undergo profound modernisation in terms of both structure and organisation. The design and production of robotic systems for civil and military use has been launched, working in parallel on automation systems, microelectronic systems and rugged personal computers. LEM engineering has also developed modern civil and military tensile structures and related equipment.
All these new projects have led to a natural enhancement of the research and development and production department for Autonomous Driving Systems (Unmanned Vehicles) for Military Vehicles, which were officially presented in Modena during Segredifesa at the 5th edition of the Motor Valley Fest in 2023.
Continuous research, a commitment to ever-improving products, and total dedication to virtuous corporate growth have driven investment in a major upgrade of production equipment and machinery, requiring further HR expansion of the technical unit and engineering department operators.
Last but not least, the launch of the new production site in Umbria has further expanded LEM's logistics and production capacity for the manufacture of heavy metal structures and metal structures, such as shelters and/or mobile platforms.
Today and tomorrow, LEM is gaining experience in the field of robotic platforms, NBC and CBRN, as well as innovative security and protection systems.
